Made this a while ago, but I remember it being quite tasty indeed. We prepared the pepper stuffing first. Steamed some rice, once that was done, we cooked it some more with tinned tomatoes and chopped spring onions. Whilst all that was cooking, we washed and halved two peppers, removing the seeds. Then added the rice [...]

South Africa
So I recently went to South Africa with the hubby. The food in Johannesburg is not too dissimilar from what we have in the UK, pretty much what you'd expect from any city. Room service: for the first day when we were too out of it to really go anywhere. This was cookies and cream dessert, and [...]
Nachos Nachos, yeah
So I went on a job for work where I had to stay away, and tried the local cuisine: pub food. I was greedy and ordered nachos to start, with a beefy main. Waitress came out with the food, which was great 'cause I was hungry. But the kitchen staff made a sharing nachos starter - [...]
Swiss Roll
Last week's Great British Bake Off swiss roll challenge was great. I didn't quite feel inspired to bake one myself, I just happened to find some pictures of a terrible swiss roll I made earlier - months ago, in fact. The sponge was a tad dry, a bit cracked in places, did not get much of [...]

They weren't very sweet, just chocolatey. Might just use sultanas/raisins next time. They didn't rise very well either. Maybe I just shouldn't make scones again...
Lemon Cake
Found this on my camera, my husband's birthday cake. This was the first time I ever used lemons in a cake, I remember smelling the lemons but barely tasting them. Maybe I need a juicer. Still, it was a nice cake. Yeah, I had to improvise with the candles...
Birthday Cake
A birthday, of course, calls for a birthday cake. This was just a normal Victoria sponge with cocoa butter cream icing in the middle and some yummy strawberries and icing sugar on top. Pretty much devoured it in one sitting.
Cornish Pasty
Made this a while ago. Turned out ok, would definitely buy pasties rather than make my own though! My only issue was the differences in sizes, as the earlier ones I made were small, whilst the later ones were packed with filling. I should have divided the fillings more evenly. Not a bad bake. But won't [...]
