I’m sure everyone has heard, one way or other, Bin Laden is now dead. Here’s where I read it: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13256676
After 40 minutes of “firefight” in Pakistan, US forces succeeded in killing Bin Laden, his son and his trusted courier. No Americans were injured, but some of the opposition were. The forces then took hold of Bin Laden’s body and I guess the news then spread across the world.
There were celebrations in America with people chanting outside the Whitehouse, so needless to say – they were very happy about the news.
Bin Laden supporters, on the other hand, have left messages on various sites. Some of these messages are naïve, thinking the claims are false; others are more chilling to the bone. There is still quite some hatred in these people and everyone is fully aware of the possibilities of Al Qaeda attacks in response.
It all depends on whether Bin Laden still held any power in his position, or if his followers were losing faith in him. Who knows? It could turn out like The Wizard of Oz whereby the Wicked Witch of the East dies and then the Wicked Witch of the West avenges. Bin Laden has a large powerful family and I presume some followers left.
But my connection between the two is terrible, and the governments are on high alert, so hopefully nothing will happen.
During his election campaign in 2008, Obama repeatedly vowed: “We will kill Osama Bin Laden.” Well, congrats America, you got what you wanted. Obama has ticked something else off his list, who says politicians never deliver?
Now if only Nick Clegg could deliver what he promised last year in his campaign…
